Because I'm not going to leave myself open for an accusation of hypocrisy, I'm not going to give the real name of Fore Sam. He is the father of a boy who has been diagnosed with low functioning Autism, and as his blog claims he hates Autism. The blog I would assume was created to express this and also to promote a bogus cure. He is one of a minority of parent groups in the United States who play a role in a group of cranks called "Generation Rescue". They all believe that Autism is not a genetic disorder, but rather the result of being poisoning by mercury. This poisoning is claimed to have originated from a mercury based preservative known as either thimerosal or thiomersal (I've seen both used). Foresam even gave a birth date for Autism and all it's relations including Asperger's Syndrome - 1931, when the preservative was created by a chemical company called Eli Lilly. Autism wasn't formally named until 1943 by Leo Kanner, and the conveniency of this with people like Foresam is that 1943 indicated that the first sufferers diagnosed by Kanner were ALL children vaccinated with vaccines treated with thiomersal.

Fore Sam is keen on calling Autism and all it's relations "diseases" and refers to people who have ASD's as "brain damaged". This is a bullying tactic designed to use a common colloquialism for "mad" to shove anyone with an ASD into the gutter - and their self esteem along with it.

I first ran into Fore Sam on his blog in late November 2006. I read a post about a Canadian Autistic woman who was having trouble with her government (and as far as I know still is). I went to post and what did it start? Here's what I wrote (edited to protect identities);

“[deleted] (yes I'll call her by her correct name) deleted your comments because you support non medically supported education. That is, education done by teachers, not psychologists. I see her point, and the fact that you have a history of not listening yourself - I don't blame her for deleting your comments. You are the one who can not stand to be contradicted by someone else's EXPERIENCE. She wants PROPER intervention - not the uneducated variety you seem to be advocating. It's like ignoring that Autism even exists - and that's a crock of crap. Take your fingers out of your ears for two seconds, [deleted]. You might learn something. If you are capable that is!”

Fore Sam then made his first direct comments regarding his view of mercury poisoning.

“Psychologists are not teachers and have no business having anything to do with autism. Autism is mercury poisoning and should be treated by doctors. The only experience [deleted] has is being a pain in the ass to parents trying to help their kids. She needs to be cured, herself.”

And my response was more than appropriate!

“You're the one who needs to be cured. Where the heck did you get this fanciful notion that Autism is the result of mercury poisoning? That's the biggest load of BS I've ever read! All Austistic spectrum disorders are GENETIC in origin. Psychologists are the way to go. Doctors have no idea what they are dealing with. And neither do you obviously.”

I won't quote the whole conversation from there in this article because it would take way too long - I have seperate articles for quotes, but Fore Sam wanted to know where all the 75 year old autistics were. And called it somewhat mockingly a "genetic epidemic". As far as he was concerned 1 in 166 (the current ratio on ASD diagnosing in children in the US) was an epidemic - when in fact it was simply a reflection of a combination of better diagnostics, and the wretched tendency of some parents to use an ASD diagnosis to make up for their own bad parenting. This usually applies to ADD and ADHD more than the others, but the problem exists. I remarked that there weren't any 75 year old autistics because they didn't usually live that long because of the distress level. At the time I also believed that mercury poisoning was cast iron lethal, and I used that as the root argument against Foresam's opinion.

But the idiot refused to listen. As far as he was concerned, he'd found the cause of ASD's and the cure, and refused to shift from that line. Even when I told him he was likely Autistic himself, and that's where his son got it from - not from mercury poisoning. His only response to that was to scrape the barrel on insults, even questioning my manhood simply because I'm not a father and can never be.

Fore Sam is also a believer in a good old fashioned conspiracy theory - that the government is being paid off by the chemical companies to ignore these so called warnings about thiomersal, and to lie about the preservative being used or not. For example, in Canada and Denmark, thiomersal is not being used anymore. Fore Sam refuses to believe this as the diagnosis rates have not dropped accordingly, so he calls the governments of both countries liars. He has also publicly blasted two US Senators and his state's Governor for defending the chemical companies by supporting the vaccination of children.

One of the big reasons why Fore Sam is dangerous is his self admission to stalking. This is frightening because it's clear he is part of a group who are seeing themselves as saviours. Fore Sam seems to see himself as a god - as accurately reflected by at least one other person who has been on his blog. I describe him now as a meglomaniac. He is so consumed with this conspiracy theory, this "cure" and abusing, bullying and intentionally embarrassing people including me, he is simply incapable of rational thought. He has also indicated a hatred for homosexuals, and one comment was made by him that indicated he was a religious person. That explains a lot because that says to me that he is a devotee of the church from a time that intolerance of people who were not "normal" was at a disgusting height and was much more influential than it is now (thank goodness). The 19th century. To steal a phrase from Doctor Who - like all meglomaniac's, he is consumed with his own vanity!

I call the others in this category an Aspie enemy. Frankly, this man is the biggest enemy of the lot. The sooner his influence over other parents is clarified, explained and exposed for what it is - the ramblings of a father driven mad by the sheer hatred of a condition that affected his son rather badly and an abnormal level of desperation to make his son "normal" (when there is no such thing). And the refusal to accept that he himself was responsible for one of the things that was resolved by the mercury poisoning treatment - intestinal problems. What was he feeding his son to create that? He'll blame the vaccines of course, but there's no way it could have been responsible for that.

Fore Sam has also claimed to be an officer and a gentleman. He has been picked up on this by a couple of other contributors to his blog, and I agree. He is far from a gentleman. He is rude, arrogant, obnoxious, intolerant - and is in all likelihood an example of the sorts of people who guard Guantanamo Bay! As far as being an officer goes, I'd like to know where he became an officer!

On December 23, 2006, I opened a blog at Telstra Big Blog in order to comment on his efforts - that blog is now the AS Blog. This is what I wrote when I opened the blog up;

I discovered one of the most hateful blogs in existence - titled "Hating Autism". It's run by a father of an autistic boy, and he is preaching the benefits of treating mercury poisoning as a way of "curing" Autism.

The man's a blithering idiot. For the last couple of weeks I've been arguing with him, but they are so petulant they try to embarrass people who make them look bad for all the right reasons. So much so when I did nothing more than give them my website address, out came my full name - without my permission! I wouldn't have minded that if it hadn't been for a convicted Internet stalker coming online and breaching an intervention order! And then another known enemy comes on as well! This is all about restricting my access to Internet sites trying to cut my life back. A common reaction from intolerant morons who have certain expectations about humanity and have a definition of "normal". For which there is no single definition.

The thing I hate about the owner of "Hating Autism" about all else is his clear contempt for neuro diversity. That - in my book - is the same as contempt for any other variety of diversity you care to name. Racial, religious and cultural. That makes him a disgrace to the human race.

In January I picked up an edit on Wikipedia. I'm not sure where now (I couldn't find it when I added this to this article) and it was taken out - as I recall because an admin wanted a seperate article on him. That's partly why I ended up putting this article here. Anyway - here's what the edit said;

At least one Rescue Angel, [name removed], has become very controversial. [name removed] maintains a blog called "Hating Autism", where [name removed] documents his thoughts on autism, neurodiversity, autistic people, and homosexuals. After being asked to offer his thoughts on the Rescue Angel program, [name removed] said, "I don’t mind helping kids who have idiots for parents and I think most other rescue angels feel the same way." On April 20, 2007, the idiot tried to join this website. The very alert Scratcher picked him up and blocked him - and when I found out I shot off a single message on his pathetic blog telling him to stay off this Wiki. His message here and the follow ups are on the appropriate quotes page (see below).

And just to prove he's a fool, Fore Sam also made a blanket statement about Autism just because the Virginian gunman was apparently diagnosed with it. I have serious reservations about that. He might have had an ASD - remembering that the perpetrator of the world's worst massacre by a single gunman (Martin Bryant at Port Arthur) is believed to be an Aspie. But putting it over as a reason to "cure Autism" is pathetic. What is needed - and I've always said this about Bryant and I'll re-iterate it when I get around to doing the article on Port Arthur (it's in General Events) - is understanding. A concept that Fore Sam is completely against.

Fore Sam is an enemy to all Aspie's. As big a threat to us as Adolf Hitler was to the Jews. Hitler went off the deep end if we all remember our history! And guess what? One of Fore Sam's favourite books is the Nazi Bible - Mein Kampf.
